Our Core Keeper Map Guide will explain how the map works and how the biomes are distributed throughout the underground world.
The world ofCore Keeperis pretty big and there's a lot to discover. Once you've learned the basics and begun exploring, you'll naturally want to uncover more of the world and discover new biomes such as Azeos' Wilderness. Read on to learn how the map works!
How theCore KeeperMap Works
TheCore Keepermap uses a somewhat circular system to generate biomes. You can roughly predict where one biome is based on your knowledge of the others.
An important note: although the biome distribution will roughly have this shape, they will not generate precisely as depicted in the diagram above. For example, your map might have Azeos' Wilderness to the east, or the Forgotten Ruins to the north.
Generally speaking, these are the "rules" of how the world is generated by default:
- The Core and the three boss statues (Glurch, Ghorm, and Malugaz) sit exactly at the center of the map.
- The Dirt Biome surrounds the Core and occupies the central area of the map.
- A circular area outside of the Dirt Biome is split evenly between The Clay Caves Biome and The Forgotten Ruins Biome. A circular tunnel bisects these areas, and the boss Ghorm the Devourer travels around this tunnel in a circle.
- The outer edges of The Clay Caves and The Forgotten Ruins are protected by an impenetrable wall; this will can only be opened by defeating the first three main bosses(Glurch, Ghorm, and Malugaz), placing their crystals in their respective statues at the Core, and speaking with the Core to gain the power to open up the wall.
- On the other side of this wall is a larger circle evenly split between three biomes: Azeos' Wilderness, The Sunken Sea, and The Desert of Beginnings.
- The Passage Biome surrounds this area and serves as the outermost border of the world as of version 1.0. You must find a breach in the wall in order to enter this last area.
Keep in mind that these rules only applies to maps generated with default settings. You have a lot of options for customizing the map; naturally, some of these customization options would break these rules and you wouldn't get quite the same experience.
As for the in-game map itself, you'll see terrain based on what you've explored. Waypoints and icons for bosses revealed with Scanners will also be shown, as well as any custom markers you've placed. Naturally, the map will also show you where you're currently located.
That's the basics of theCore Keepermap explained, but we've got plenty of other guides for you to see — check 'em out below!
